I look into your heart, and see the pain and anguish there

I want to pull it apart, to save you from your self despair

But the pieces that I find, would never fit for me

You must rebuild yourself, to set your anguish free!

If you want a friend, to hold some pieces while you do

You can count on me, to safely guard those pieces through

I’ll give them food and water, I’ll love them like my own

And gladly give them back to you, when you’ve rebuilt their home!

I’ll even give you nails and wood, and the blueprints given to me

The ones I received from God above, to guide and set me free

And the building tool that you will need, I’ll give that to you too

A simple prayer that you need help and God will see you through!

July 10th, 1997

Written in an effort to share my experience, strength and hope with someone who had asked for help.  Later I found out she made the whole thing up and wasn’t struggling with booze to gain attention from our group of friends.  I was so upset I wrote a poem about that betrayal as well.  So my feelings of helping someone expressed in this poem still stand and thus I include it here.
